BUILDING HERO LASER CUT PINECONE ORNAMENTS
BUILDING HERO LASER CUT PINECONE ORNAMENTS
Tiny WPA + Fairmount Park Conservancy + talented Building Heroes + A Very Philly Christmas = pinecone ornaments!
Tiny WPA and Fairmount Park Conservancy once again partnered on a holiday ornament. To be exact, we made three laser cut pinecone ornaments with three different finishes (silver, gold and natural) and in three different sizes (small, medium and large).
The initial sketch for the ornament was done by Building Hero team member, Pierie Kostoff. The prototyping of the ornament’s finish, sizing, and other design details that actually turned the sketch into a sellable product was realized by young adult Building Heroes, Kamaiyah, Roy-Yae, and Tamir. The project was a relatively simple but hugely valuable chance for Building Heroes to #learnandearn, providing opportunities Heroes to hone their laser cutter, Adobe Illustrator, finishing, and ‘systems thinking’ skills.
Large = natural (approximately 5” x 3”)
Medium = gold (approximately 4 ½ ” x 2 ¾”)
Small = silver (approximately 3 ⅝ x 2 ½” )
The laser cut pinecones are made from birch plywood and intended for indoor use only. They are made by Building Heroes in our community focused workshop at 4017 Lancaster Ave. in West Philadelphia.
